Your journey today will begin at stunning Locri Epizephiri, a Magna Graecia town on the Ionian coast and the last colony founded in Calabria. Inside the Archaeological Excavations, you will be able to admire the remains of the ancient colony, its Sanctuaries equipped with monumental temple buildings, of which the Sanctuary of Persephone is the best preserved and where considerable quantity of votive deposits were found inside. Then on to Centocamere, the artisanal residential district of Locri Epizephiri.
Next stop will be Gerace, “the little Florence of Calabria”, a village that still retains its medieval appearance, its imposing Cathedral, the Church of San Francesco, its characteristic alleyways, and Porta delle Bombarde, an arch overlooking the entire Riviera dei Gelsomini.
The tour will end with the option of granita (slush ice) tasting and lunch in agriturismo based on typical products.
